Fundamental relationships of executive functions and physiological abilities with game intelligence, game time and injuries in elite soccer players

چکیده

The study examined the (1) interrelation of cognitive-athletic performance concerning game time and (2) injuries; (3) relation between executive functions intelligence. A total 172 elite soccer players (age: 12–34 years) performed tests assessing multiple-object-tracking, working memory capacity (WMC), cognitive flexibility (CF), inhibition. General specific-endurance-performance, physical (jumps sprint) were also measured. Game intelligence, injuries tracked. WMC, CF, a cognition score showed correlations with same parameter, along selective attention intelligence correlated time. Sprint specific-endurance connected time, whereas contact only sprint, noncontact sprint general-endurance. Especially represent fundamental associations -time across all age groups, certain physiological abilities may contribute to more less non-contact depending on age.

In-Game Physiological Responses of Young Elite Male and Female Golf Players: A Field-Based Study

Background. Females' golf course lengths have been reduced due to their strength characteristics, leading to shorter shot distances than men. Although the golf game requires different physical conditions for females and males, the physiological demands of both genders are unknown. Objectives. This study aimed to investigate the physiological responses of female and male golfers during 18 holes...

The Effect of Game Strategies on the Physiological, Physical, and Technical Loads of Soccer Players

Background. The study aims to determine position-specific loads by different tactical strategies. Eighty Turkish Super League U21 players (19.35 ± 1.6 years, 179.4 ± 2.3 cm, 75.6 ± 4.1 kg; M ± SD) were involved in this study. Objectives. The players completed eight different 11v11 training games. While one team practiced the ball possession and “defense as a team” strategy, the other team impl...

Memory abilities in action video game players

Action video game players (AVGPs) have been shown to outperform non-action video game players (NVGPs) on tasks of perception and attention. Here we set out to investigate if these benefits also extended to another cognitive domain, memory. In particular, while there is some previous evidence suggesting AVGPs demonstrate better visual short-term memory, it is unclear whether this extends to long...

Core executive functions are associated with success in young elite soccer players

Physical capacity and coordination cannot alone predict success in team sports such as soccer. Instead, more focus has been directed towards the importance of cognitive abilities, and it has been suggested that executive functions (EF) are fundamentally important for success in soccer. However, executive functions are going through a steep development from adolescence to adulthood. Moreover, mo...

Physiological Demands, Morphological Characteristics, Physical Abilities and Injuries of Female Soccer Players

The popularity of female soccer is increasing as well as the number of females playing soccer. Similarly, over the last twenty or so years, research in soccer has increased significantly, but a large disparity exists in the volume of studies involving male and female players. As a consequence of this, female players remain less well understood compared to males. The purpose of the present narra...
